The service

What the party bike is and how it works

The party bike is a pedal-powered group vehicle for up to 15 people, seated roughly seven a side, facing each other. Everyone pedals, the thing moves at conversational speed, and the entire point is the experience rather than the distance covered. It runs in Belfast and Carlingford.

It is offered as an add-on to a party bus booking rather than as a standalone Dublin service. In practice that means a hen or stag group books the bus for the weekend, and the bike becomes the Saturday daytime activity before the evening starts. Groups that want the bike are almost always groups already travelling with us.

Fifteen is the capacity, which is worth planning around. A hen group of twenty-eight will not all fit at once, so larger groups either split into sessions or use the bike as the activity for part of the party while the rest do something else. Tell us your numbers at enquiry stage and we will lay out the options honestly.

It is priced inside the same quote as the bus, in euro, rather than being sold separately. That keeps the weekend as one booking with one company answering the phone.

What goes wrong

The daytime gap that ruins weekends away

Hen and stag weekends fail in the middle of Saturday, not at night. The evening is always planned — a restaurant, a bar, a venue. The afternoon is frequently not, and a group of twenty-five with nothing booked between checkout and dinner ends up in whichever pub is nearest the hotel, six hours before they intended to start.

That has a cost beyond boredom. A group that starts drinking at two because there was nothing else arranged is a group that is finished by nine, and the expensive part of the weekend — the meal, the venue, the night everyone travelled for — gets wasted.

The other common failure is booking a daytime activity that half the group cannot or will not do. Anything that requires equipment, fitness or a waiver tends to split a party into participants and spectators, which defeats the purpose of getting everyone away together.

The party bike solves a narrow problem well: it is an hour or so, everyone is on it together, it needs no skill, and it puts the group in a good mood at the right point in the day rather than the wrong one.

Mistakes we see most

  • Planning the nights of a weekend away and leaving Saturday daytime completely open.
  • Booking an activity only half the group is willing to take part in.
  • Assuming a group of twenty-five will fit on a 15-person bike at once.
  • Leaving the bike request until after the bus is booked, when the slot may be gone.
  • Expecting it in Dublin — it runs in Belfast and Carlingford only.

Our process

How the booking runs, start to finish

Five steps, all of them handled by the people who own the bus. Nothing is subcontracted out and nothing is left for you to chase on the day.

  1. 01

Ask when you enquire about the bus

Mention the party bike with your bus enquiry — date, destination and group size. The two are planned together from the start.

  2. 02

We check availability in your location

We confirm the bike is available in Belfast or Carlingford for your date and work out how your group numbers fit against the 15 places.

  3. 03

You get one quote for the weekend

The bike is priced inside the same euro quote as the bus, so there is one figure for the whole trip rather than two bookings to reconcile.

  4. 04

A small deposit secures the date

Card or bank transfer, the same as the bus booking. The whole weekend is held on one deposit.

  5. 05

    We run the day

The bus gets the group to the bike, the session runs, and the bus is there afterwards to move everyone on to the evening.

What you get

The practical difference on the day

Everyone takes part

No skill, no kit and no waiver-and-watch split — fifteen people on the same vehicle doing the same thing.

Fills the dangerous part of the day

It occupies Saturday afternoon, which is the stretch that otherwise turns into a pub at two o'clock and a finished group by nine.

Sociable by design

Seven a side, facing each other, moving slowly enough to hold a conversation the whole way round.

One booking for the weekend

Priced into the same euro quote as the bus, with one company and one number for the whole trip.

The bus handles the logistics

Getting to the bike and getting on to the evening is already covered by the transport you have booked.

It is the bit people remember

Of everything a hen or stag weekend does, the bike is reliably the part that ends up in the photographs.

In detail

Party bike hire in Belfast and Carlingford, in detail

What the bike is, where it runs, how group numbers work against 15 places, and why it is sold with a bus booking rather than on its own.

The bike itself

It carries 15 people, seated roughly seven per side facing inwards. The group pedals and the vehicle moves — slowly, which is the entire appeal. It is a sociable cycling experience rather than a cycling challenge, and nobody needs to be a cyclist.

Because everyone faces everyone, a group of fifteen is one conversation rather than a line of people looking at the back of a helmet. That is the same principle as the booth seating on the bus, and it is why the two work well together on a weekend.

It runs in daylight as a daytime activity. Groups typically slot it into Saturday afternoon, between whatever the morning was and wherever the evening starts.

Belfast and Carlingford — and why not Dublin

The bike operates in Belfast and Carlingford. Those are the two locations, and both are places we regularly run hen and stag weekends to on the bus, which is why the pairing exists.

It is not a standalone Dublin service. If you are looking for a Dublin-based activity, the one-hour city party bus run is the closer equivalent, and we will point you at that instead rather than pretend the bike is available where it is not.

In Belfast, the bike is one of the components in our bespoke Belfast weekend package alongside hotel accommodation, the transfer up on the bus and complimentary drinks on arrival.

Group sizes above 15

Fifteen places is a hard number, and hen and stag groups are often larger. There are two normal solutions: split the group across sessions so everyone gets a turn, or run the bike for part of the group while the rest do something else nearby.

Which works better depends on your numbers, your timings and the date. It is exactly the sort of thing to raise at enquiry stage, because the answer changes the shape of the day and the quote.

The bus is 31 seats, so getting a larger group to and from the bike is not the constraint — only the bike's own capacity is.

Booking it alongside the bus

Ask about the bike when you enquire about the bus. Adding it afterwards is sometimes possible and sometimes not, because availability in Belfast and Carlingford is separate from the bus diary.

It is quoted in euro inside the same figure as the rest of the weekend, so you get one price for transport and activity rather than two bookings and two deposits.

The rest of the arrangement is the same as any of our work: a small deposit holds the date by card or bank transfer, and the transport side is run under a full operator licence, PSV-licensed and compliant, fully insured, with Cat D and CPC-qualified drivers.

Common questions

Before you enquire

How much does the party bike cost?+

It is priced inside the same euro quote as your party bus booking rather than sold separately, so you get one figure for the whole weekend. Send your date, destination and group size and we will come back with the full price.

How many people fit on the party bike?+

15, seated roughly seven a side. If your group is bigger than that, we can usually split it across sessions or run the bike for part of the party while the rest do something else — raise it at enquiry stage and we will lay out the options.

Where does the party bike run?+

Belfast and Carlingford. Those are the two locations, and both are places we regularly take hen and stag groups on the bus, which is why it works as an add-on.

Can we book the party bike in Dublin?+

No — it is not a standalone Dublin service. If you want something for a Dublin group, the one-hour city party bus run is the nearest equivalent and we are happy to price that instead.

Do we need to be fit or able to cycle?+

No. It moves at conversational speed and everyone contributes, so it is a sociable cycling experience rather than a cycling challenge. That is exactly why it suits mixed groups where other activities split people into participants and spectators.

Can we book the bike without booking the bus?+

It is offered as an add-on to a party bus booking rather than on its own. Get in touch with what you have in mind and we will tell you plainly whether we can help.

How long does a party bike session last?+

It is a daytime activity that slots into an afternoon rather than taking up the whole day. Exact timings are confirmed when we quote, because they depend on the location and how your weekend is laid out.

How far in advance should we book it?+

At the same time as the bus. Availability for the bike in Belfast and Carlingford is separate from the bus diary, so asking after the bus is confirmed sometimes means the slot has gone.

Is it included in the Belfast weekend package?+

Yes. Our bespoke Belfast weekend package includes hotel accommodation, the transfer up on the party bus, the party bike, and complimentary drinks waiting at the hotel. It is arranged around your group rather than sold at a fixed price.

What happens if the weather is bad?+

It is an outdoor activity, so weather is part of it — bring layers. If conditions are genuinely unworkable on the day we will talk it through with you directly rather than leave the group standing about.
